"My most indispensable app is my guitar tuner, Cleartune. None of the old visual or analog tuners are as precise. Ive even taken it on stage with me!" - Rosanne Cash

"Cleartune and Clockwork are my most used apps." - Ezra Oklan (Nicole Atkins, Norah Jones, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, Matt Beck (Matchbox 20), Chico Hamilton, Arnie Lawrence)

"Ive been having trouble with interference on stage with other tuners for the iPhone. Used Cleartune last night before a gig and had no problems with stage noise. Excellent tuner for bass." - Rob Calder (Kanye West, Angus and Julia Stone, The Break and Repair Method, Ghostface Killah)

Used in the making of the Gorillaz album "The Fall"

Cleartune is a chromatic instrument tuner and pitch pipe that allows you to quickly and accurately tune your instrument using the built-in mic in your device.

Cleartune features a unique "note wheel" interface allowing you to quickly find your pitch, paired with a highly responsive fine-tuning meter for the perfect tune.

With support for custom temperaments, transposition, notations such as solfège, and adjustable calibration, Cleartune packs more power than most pro tuners, yet is simple enough for everyone to use.

Cleartune can tune acoustic or electric guitar, bass, bowed strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, tympani and any other instrument that can sustain a tone.

Most electronic tuners cannot properly tune a violin. With a built in temperament for violin family instruments, Cleartune will have the 5ths singing perfectly.

Features:

- Note Wheel Display
- Ultra responsive 25 cent range fine tuning display
- Needle Damping option
- Accuracy ±0.01 semitone (±1 cent)
- Selectable Temperaments
- Selectable Notations (such as Solfège)
- User-defined temperament and notations
- Support for transposing instruments
- Automatic reference note calibration
- Adjustable A4 calibration in 0.1 Hz increment
- Pitch Pipe/Tone generator
- Selectable tone waveform
- Automatic or manual note selection

Pros and cons of Cleartune app for iPhone and iPad

Cleartune app good for

I tried a few other tuning apps but this one is the best by far. Very accurate and easy to read!
I purchased this for use on the bandstand tuning my trumpets, cornet, and flugelhorn. It works perfectly, even with other musicians warming up around me. If I direct my bell at the iPhone, Cleartune seems to lock onto my sound and ignore the others. Its even more sensitive and accurate than my $25 Korg tuner!
Hi. The latest update crashes when I go into the settings menu.. If you could kindly review and fix please? Thanks. Tim
I really like the upper display that gives a more precise reading. Does the app support a microphone adapter that plugs into the headphone jack (to tune at the same time as everybody else in orchestra)? Thank you!
But it would be even better if the screen lock was disabled while the app was in use. Possible?
I stopped using my old electric tuner as This works better. And if im at a buddys house i can tune his guitar if he is clueless and cant find his/her tuner. Truly perfect!

Some bad moments

well, it worked fine a month ago... now I play note and it doesnt work (bar doesnt move). probably needs an update... until then this is a useless app and a waste of money...
I wasnt impressed with the free tuner apps, but this is even worse!
While once a very effective and useful app, the needle/note readout is constantly in motion across a huge range of notes, making tuning virtually impossible. I thought maybe ambient sound was affecting it, but other tuning apps are not experiencing similar issues. This surfaced after a previous iOS update ( around 8) and continues to date (9.3.5). Not currently recommended. If the issue was resolved, I would highly recommend.
Support is non existent it quit working support is unreachable
But it hasnt worked for a while now. Im thinking it hasnt been updated for the newer OS. Might find on that is being kept up.....
This tuner’s note indicator bounces too much to be useful for the piano and does not work at all for the oboe (e.g., displays an F# instead of C). Also, the tuner would open on my iPod, but would not install on my old iPhone 4. I tried the built-in mic and an external mic as well as different rooms. The tuner response was poor or wrong for all these situations.
